I received a text from a friend- look in your email we are sending you a gift.
I looked in my email and this is literally what my very first email from purple carrot was titled: 'Dinner's on Michael! Try Purple Carrot for Free!' I know these friends use purple carrot weekly so I thought it would be fun to have a free meal or two.
I created an account in which I was forced to give my credit card number, birth date, and other personal info - for a gift.
The 'gift' was for a 3-day meal plan for 2 - so 6 vegan plates of food for $73.00.
Several weeks later I still had not received the food. One night I got a text from my bank that purple carrot had charged my credit card $73.00 for my first box! I emailed purple carrot and received an email back from Sandra telling me that I didn't receive a gift I received some kind of referral and if I create an account I get the box for free (but I didn't get the box for free). I did get the box the next day with maybe 3 pounds of vegetables which included 1small butternut squash, about 3 leaves of kale, and 1 brick of squished tofu that I could cut up into 6 cubes, some sauce containers that have about 2 tablespoons of sauce in them. Each meal feeds 2 people.
I think that as a true vegan eating plant based whole food meals with no processed grain you could majorly overeat and lose weight.
From what I can see in this box if all you ate was purple carrot you would be on a starvation diet and you would be sacrificing the best part of your life to send the purple carrot kids to college, buy them fancy cars, and pay for their honey moons in places you couldn't afford to go - because you are working to buy purple carrot! I could literally buy the food in the box for $10.00 at Whole Foods. It isn't prepped except that I didn't go to the store to buy it and it was shipped to my house with 6 exploded gel packs and it is all wrapped in super heavy-duty plastic that will kill 5 sea turtles. The recipes say things like - peel and chop the butternut squash -?!
Needless to say I am not impressed. Buy a normal brick of tofu and 3 squashes and a whole jar of sauce that you can divide up or eat all at once if you choose - and save $70.00. And if you want it delivered to your house use instacart, whole foods delivery service, or join a local CSA.
$70 for a box of produce? Gtfo. They stole my money after cancellation and are refusing a refund. AVOID

I called in about a series of issues with my orders not changing after I had confirmed adjustments or tried to skip a week. I found out I had two duplicate accounts under identical login information. They accused me, the person calling in to report the problem, of trying to get extra meals and worm out of paying. This had only happened for 2 deliveries before I called in and tried to find out what was happening. They took no responsibility for a duplicated account and refunded me a small portion. I had so much food, we didn't have room in our refrigerator and most of it rotted. I had to call in many (like 50 times) just to get someone on the line, they just don't answer. I got the manager of customer service on chat and she just ignored me... Refused to respond. I've never dealt with
We rarely have an issue, but if we have ever had the occasional ingredient missing, they are pleasant to contact and resolve the issue. Recipes are delicious and customer service is excellent. Been using purple carrot for a couple of years now.
My husband loves Purple Carrot meals so he is the one eating. The meals are less whole-food than when we started years ago. I do like that I can find the menu on- line if needed.

Reliable service, clear concise recipe explanations and good choices for thoughtfully arranged dishes. When things go wrong, they always make it right.
Purple Carrot has provided me with delicious, unique, nutritious, interesting and fun to make meals and a large variety of choices. My husband and I have never had such fun creating new, delicious meals. We rate each meal on a scale of 1-10 and rarely has a score fallen below 7. The majority are 8-10. I greatly appreciate the separation of hot spicy ingredients so we can exclude them, and the identifying of the presence of wheat (which I avoid). Ingredients are usually fresher than I can get in the grocery store. Thank you, Purple Carrot!
I see in previous reviews people complained of late deliveries and rotten food. I have NEVER had a problem with that. Deliveries are always on time, produce is extremely fresh and shipments are complete. I was never missing an ingredient. Also, my experience with customer service was very positive. They are friendly and helpful. It's very easy to suspend a delivery or cancel on the website. Most of the food I like. I have tried many dishes and there was only one I hated. Most are tasty and filling.
I have been using Purple Carrot throughout the pandemic and intend to continue to do so. It is an easy and convenient way to eat healthy without having to go to the grocery store. Occasionally they have supply chain issues and you get carrots like pencils, but we have to make allowances for pandemic conditions
We LOVE Purple Carrot! Being vegan can be daunting, but our Purple Carrot subscription makes it easy. We have been introduced to so many new foods and flavors (I never knew what to do with hearts of palm or jack fruit). The step-by-step recipes are easy to follow and the meals are filling and delicious. We live in a community with limited shopping options, but thanks to PC we have experienced spices and foods that are difficult for us to locate. I appreciate having access to all the recipes on line in addition to the weekly recipes. We have had a few hiccups, like a missing item, and PC has always made it right by responding rapidly and crediting our account. We've had a subscription for more than 3 years and plan to continue on...
High quality ingredients. Excellent flavors. The recipes have gotten very easy to make, too
